FIRST PLACE POEM
The Wonder of Us
By Blanca N. Baquero
Westmount, Quebec
Your lips search
and your fingers find
the secret strands
beneath my skin.
Your heart waits
and watches
as the transparent cloth
covering my inner self
falls gently around my feet.
And only when you are absolutely sure
that you have teased out my soul
from its hiding place,
do you take its threads
and with your being
gently weave my being
into us.
