NEW ONLINE CONTESTS!
Tickled by Thunder fiction magazine has been helping writers
get published since 1990. Our writers have shown their appreciation
over the years by subscribing or participating in our anthologies.
We've returned that appreciation by sponsoring nine contests
every four issues! In this way, we've maintained a symbiotic
relationship.
Since 2003, we have been giving back more to the writing
community by introducing 36 additional contests -- all of them
run entirely
through this website. That's three contests every month! (Free
for subscribers!)
But that's not all -- we're also going to give out points for
placing in our contests, so that by the end of the year, whoever
has the most points will be proclaimed Tickled by Thunder's
writer of the year. Now that's sweet!
How will the points work? Like this: First place gets 10 points,
second place gets 9 points, third place gets 8 points, and
on
and on. The page for each month will show the standings, the
winning entries from the three contests from that month,
and a little information about the winning authors. Only the
winning entry in each of the three categories will be published
online. All other winning entries will be listed by author
and title only.
A hall of fame page has been created to honour our writers
of the year!
THE RULES:
- All entries for contests each month must be made via email,
during that particular month. If we cannot confirm that
you are a subscriber or authorized to enter the contest,
your entry will
be destroyed. It is important that you include contact information
so we can verify the status of your entry. If you entry does
not contain your name and address, your entry will be destroyed.
- You must be a current subscriber to Tickled by Thunder
fiction magazine to enter contests for free, or as a non-subscriber
-- pay a $2.00 per item entry fee. Subscribers must also
pay $2.00 per additional entry. Only one entry per category
is free for subscribers.
- You may enter each contest during the month active.
For example, January entries must be emailed in January.
Entries for future months will be destroyed.
- Prize is publication on our web site. Winning entries will
be displayed for a year, and an anthology may also be produced
as a chapbook and sold online. Authors will not have to pay
to be included, but free copies will not be supplied.
Authors may also be invited to participate
in the Year's Best, which is another chapbook that IS author-subsidized.
Articles may be used elsewhere on our website.
- All rights other than those listed above are retained by
the authors.
- This competition also includes accumulation of points (see
text above these rules for explanation) -- ten points awarded
for first place, nine for second, 8 for third, etc etc. Points
are carried into the next month. Most points by the end of
the year results in being awarded Writer
of the Year!
