The Life

To pounce and play and paw and prod!
To leap! To glide with grace and glee.
Oh, for eyes that puncture night.
To know the pleasure of the purr.
To eat and drink and sleep and nothing else!
To make a house a whole world to explore.
To make behind the couch a sanctuary!
To make the carpet fun for hours!
Oh for a simple life. A good life.
Oh, to be lazy and loved.
Oh, good lord . . . to be a cat!
